Dr Man Mohan Sharma was born in Batala, India in 1939. He was a visionary leader, mathematician, educator, teacher, mentor, entrepreneur, and philanthropist. He received his Bachelor’s in Mathematics from Batala, Punjab, Masters in Mathematics from Delhi University, and a Ph.D. in Mathematics Education from Ohio University.

He moved to US in 1978 at the age of 39 years, with nothing in his pocket except the dream of an immigrant looking for a better life. He used Education as a vessel to lift out of poverty. He was a math educator for over 50 years, and held several senior academic and administrative positions in different universities in US and India.

Dr. Sharma had an intense passion for mathematics education. He spent his life fulfilling his mission of improving mathematics education for students and teachers. He envisioned building a solid mathematics foundation for students at a young age, ensuring success in higher education and STEM careers. His objective was to inspire confident math enthusiasts to approach problem-solving creatively. He firmly believed that every student has the potential to excel in math.

During his Ph.D., he developed the vision for using technology to improve the learning process for students and the teaching process for teachers by developing digital content, a math editor, and a comprehensive learning management system. He was ahead of the time, even before the Internet, and worked with the Department of Education and IBM in US to bring technology to many institutions to improve mathematics education. He started his company Educo International in 1985 with operations in Atlanta, New Delhi, and Bangalore.

In 2007 he launched EducoSoft platform with the dream of unlocking students innate abilities to learn math by providing the right technological resources and tools. He dedicated his life to creating the most comprehensive math content online. He authored several books on Mathematics and internet-based learning management systems, now being used in US, Puerto Rico, Jamaica, and some select schools in India.

His legacy of resilience, zest for life, contribution to education, unwavering work ethic, and helping those less fortunate than him will be carried on by the Educo family, and the hundreds of people whose lives were touched by him along his life's path.

Dr. Sharma’s vision to bring math mastery globally to students while empowering teachers will continue. While no one can fill his shoes, his vision and passion will continue to guide us.
